Authentic Kuba Cloth Pillow Cover Vintage African Textile
Kuba cloth is one of the most sophisticated textile traditions in the world. Produced by the Kuba Kingdom of the Democratic Republic of Congo, these hand-woven and embroidered raffia textiles have been made for centuries. This pillow is faced in authentic vintage Kuba cloth featuring a diamond pattern worked in cut-pile raffia embroidery over a hand-woven ground. The cloth was most likely combined with the brown suede backing in the mid to late twentieth century, following it’s original construction. The warm amber and dark espresso tones come entirely from natural vegetable dyes. No synthetic color and no mass production. Every variation in color, weave, and pattern reflects the textile's handmade origin and vintage character.
